Santa Barbara Co. fire, my family lives in SB what is it like in SB city proper ?

I do not watch the news and just read about the big fire in Santa Barbara County. My family lives on the mesa in Santa barbara but we have no way to talk. Is it heavy smoke or how close is the fire to downtown SB ? I understand it is up in the mountains, but I can't figure out how close it is and all, anyone know ?
