Why is my TV in mono?! I have it hooked up to my stereo.?

The first place I would look is the TV signal coming into the house is that stereo? next I would look at how the signal from the VCR is being transmitted to the stereo if its a cheap VCR it may only transmit a mono signal...how are all these things hooked up?? RCA cables coax??? what type of wiring do you use??? Somewhere along the line you are losing quality on the signal...a lot of TV programing is still in mono usually the sports channels will have the higher quality signal so try a sports channel and see if you are getting stereo from them, maybe you have to pay extra for that feature???
